2017 HPP Spring Identification Camps – Information Package

Welcome to the 2017 High Performance Program Spring Identification Camp Information Page! This page is created to provide information all of our spring camp participants. 

Goal of the program:

To identify the best players in each respective age category and expose them to a high level of competition and coaching. Players will compete at the spring identification camp to receive a spot in the summer provincial camp. With our female program, the goal is to continue through the High Performance Program process and have the opportunity to compete with Team Atlantic U18 and Team Canada in National and World competitions (Under 18, U22 & National Team Program). With our male program, the goal is to continue through the High Performance Program and have the opportunity to compete with Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence teams (National Under 17, U18 & U20/World Juniors).

  • Spring Camp Dates: April 28th-29th – Male Under 15 and Female Under 16 (Paradise)

  • Spring Camp Dates: April 28th-30th – Male Under 14 (Goulds)

*Spring Camp Registration will take place 1 hour before first session(s).

Registration: Please note the times on the respective schedules for registration times. Player(s) must check in at registration desk before heading to dressing room.

Orientation Session: There will only be an orientation session for MU14, times listed on the MU14 schedule

HPP Nutritional Sessions: We will have two nutritional information sessions offered to MU15, MU16 & FU16 participants. This will take place on Saturday, April 29th. Times and more information will be posted shortly. All players will receive a PDF meal information package that will be posted here, after the camps. 

Dressing Rooms: Please note the dressing room allocations are listed on each respective schedule. Players are to remove gear after each on-ice session.

Evaluator Space: We ask that everyone respect the evaluators space. In the GOULDS during games we ask that parents stay away from the far end (dressing room area). 

Medical Issues: For any injury concerns, please see our training staff.

Logistical Issues: For any logistics concerns, please see the teams respective Director of Operations.

 

What is provided at the spring identification camp?

Players are given a team practice and 3 games. Goalies receive a practice, split of the 3 games and 2 goalie sessions. Players get to keep their HNL HPP jersey (jersey provided at the beginning of camp). For MU15, MU16, FU16 two nutritional information sessions offered to MU15, MU16 & FU16 participants. This will take place on Saturday, April 29th. Times and more information will be posted shortly. All players will receive a PDF meal information package that will be posted here, after the camps. 

Is there feedback at the spring identification camp(s)?

No, because this is an ‘identification camp’ there will be no feedback provided.  Our coaching staff uses this opportunity to mark each player game by game with a ranking number.  Staff will use these numbers to determine who is successful in attending the provincial camp.

How many players are invited to the summer provincial camp?

  • Male Under 14: We will be increasing our invited numbers to our MU14 summer camp: 24D, 36F, 8G will be invited from the spring camp. 
  • Male Under 15 & Male Under 16: 24F, 16D, 4-6G  will be invited from the spring camp. 
  • Female Under 16: 24F, 16D, 4-6G  will be invited from the spring camp.

What does a player receive at the summer provincial camp? How much is the summer camp and when is this payment due?

Each player will receive an apparel package, game jersey/sock set, 5 nights accommodations, all meals during the camp, snack/Gatorade table, daily practice (Goalies receive goalie only sessions), daily game, daily classroom sessions and fitness testing. As well as exposure to a High Performance environment both on and off the ice.

Male Under 16: This camp is a shortened summer camp because the MU16 process continues on throughout the 2017/18 season and concludes in Spring of 2018 with a final selection camp and the QMJHL Gold Cup. Please note there will be no accommodations and select meals will be provided for the MU16 summer camp.

The 2016 HPP summer camp cost is $800.00. (tax included) Payments can be made in two separate instalments.

*Male Under 16 summer camp cost is $350.00 (tax included) – One Payment.

  • Summer Camp Dates: Male U14 & U15: August 15th – 20th (GANDER)
  • Summer Camp Dates: Male U16: August 4th – 6th (PARADISE)

 

How and when are players notified after the spring camp that they have or have not moved on to the summer provincial camp?

Rosters will be posted on our website Wednesday, May 3rd. We will also send out a notice via email to all participants that rosters are now available to view online.

Successful players will receive an email, with an attached summer camp program information package.

What happens after the summer camp?

Female Under 16, Female U18, Male Under 14 & Male U15: Teams will be selected to compete in the 2016 Atlantic Challenge Cup in Moncton, NB (October 6th-9th) *Travel Day October 5th.

Male Under 16: Player list will be narrowed down to list of players to be ‘tracked’ for the 2017-18 season. Players who were tracked receive an automatic invite to teams final selection camp. TBD April 2018-May 2018, team will compete at QMJHL Gold Cup (Spring 2018)
