Required Certifications

Please note that coaches now have to be certified as opposed to qualified as previously recorded, therefore, all individuals must complete their post-task and receive a pass from the course facilitator before they are deemed certified and eligible to coach.

The REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS effective March 31, 2013 are as follows:

All Coaches coaching the intro to hockey age groups (Initiation & Novice) must have the Initiation Program (IP) or the Intro to Coach.

All Coaches and Assistant Coaches must be certified with Coach Level or Coach Stream.

Head Coach must be certified with Intermediate Level or Development 1. All other Coaches must be certified with Coach Level or Coach Stream.

There is a progression in the coaching certification program in our branch, and your members must be reminded that in order to attend a Developmental 1 clinic they must be fully certified in the Coach Stream program. Therefore, if they plan to be considered as a Head Coach of teams in Pee Wee and above next season, they must be certified in Coach Stream this season.

We trust you understand the importance of communicating this to your members and trust you will do so accordingly.

Thank you and should you have any questions or concerns pertaining to this, please feel free to let me know.
