Darren has been actively coaching for 9+ years with the Marystown Mariners Minor Hockey Association. He is currently coaching with all levels from U7 to U18 as well as Female.

“This season has seen a lot of changes due to COVID-19 and one major change is that we (parents/spectators) were not allowed in the arena. One other big issue is that most of our coaches are rotational workers and therefore unable to enter the arena as they would fail the screening and have to isolate until they return to work. Our coaches are limited in our division due to this. We had our first weekend back a couple weeks ago and there was no coach. Luckily Darren came and volunteered to do all the practices even the ones his son wasn’t on the ice for. 

Darren has been coaching my son for 8 years on his all star team as head coach and has always went above and beyond for our kids. He deserves to be recognized as coach of the month for his dedication to our kids. Without him we would not have had a season as there are no other coaches available to go on the ice. Thank you Darren for being there for our kids”

Darren will receive a coaching package from Hockey NL for his efforts, including: Hockey NL CCM coach bag, 3M Tape Tiger, FOX 40 whistle, Bauer polo shirt and other various items.
