Torbay, NL – The Clarenville Ford Caribous claimed their fourth Herder title by beating the St. John’s Caps 6-1 to sweep the 2018 series on Saturday night. Chad Earle led the way with two goals, with singles from Keith Delaney, Kevin Reid, Mason Reid and Justin Pender. Pender received the Cliff Gorman Memorial Award as the series Most Valuable Player. Veteran Terry Ryan had the loan goal for the Caps.
Tyler Whiffen earned the win in goal for the Caribous while Scott Bray played for the Caps.
The Herder Memorial Trophy was first presented by Ralph Herder of the Evening Telegram Limited in honor of the hockey playing Herder Family, wo founded the Evening Telegram in 1879. The trophy is emblematic of the All Newfoundland Senior Hockey Championship.
