GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR, NL. – Hockey NL is inviting key stakeholders including players and parents to a town hall session on September 14, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Albatross Hotel in Gander to discuss the state of the AAA programs in the province.

The session has been initiated due to the many challenges being faced by the sport governing association over the last few seasons.

The program has seen a decline in the number of teams at this category and the association is losing many players to other levels of hockey in the Canada and USA.

The AAA program is for both male and female players between the ages of 11 and 17 in the province and have varied league structures and demands.

The program was established a number of years ago to provide highly skilled players in this age group with a program that allows for a best on best competition, player development as well as to prepare players for higher levels of hockey once they finish playing minor hockey in the province.

The open session is being held in conjunction with the association’s Fall Meetings, where over 150 delegates representing all levels of hockey in the province will be coming together in Gander to discuss plans for the 2018-2019 season.

Hockey NL is encouraging all stakeholders who are interested and available to attend this important session as they need to gather as many opinions, questions and concerns from participants and members in order to create a sustainable program for this age group.
