After a long season and a lot of preparation, the stage is set for the 2018 Bantam AAA Female Atlantic Hockey Championships.  The Central Storm will play host to the region at the MacLauchlan Arena (UPEI) in Charlottetown from April 5-8, 2018.  The championship will crown the top Bantam AAA female team from Atlantic Canada.  

Joining the host team Central Storm representing PEI is the Mid Isle Wildcats who defeated the Storm in five games to capture the PEI Bantam AAA Female Provincial title and the Moase Cup.

The following teams will represent their respective branches:

  • Western Phantoms (Hockey NB)
  • Metro West Force Blues (Hockey NS)
  • Tri Pen Ice (Hockey NL) 
  • Mid Isle Wildcats (Hockey PEI)
  • Central Storm (Host)

 

Beginning on Thursday, there will be 10 round robin games, followed by a Bronze medal game and the Championship game on Sunday April 8th at 12:00 pm.  The official opening ceremonies will be Thursday at 6:30 pm.

One highlight every year at the Atlantic Championships is the awards banquet.  This years guest speaker and Honorary Ambassador of the tournament is PEI native Shannon MacAulay.  MacAulay recently completed 4 years at Clarkson University, NCAA Division I, where her team made 4 NCAA appearances and 2 Frozen Four appearances, winning Clarkson’s first ever National Championship title in 2014.  She is also an alumnus of the Hockey Canada National Women’s team development program capturing international titles with team Canada.

The MC for the evening festivities will be Jeff Hutchenson, who is a former Canadian weather and sports anchor for Canada AM. 

“The host committee would like to congratulate and welcome all the teams that have advanced to Charlottetown for this event highlighting the best young female talent in the Atlantic provinces at the Bantam level. A lot of work goes into hosting these events and our volunteers are ready to roll out some well known Island hospitality to make this years event a very positive experience for everyone involved” stated Host Committee Chairperson Chris Chaisson.

Ticket passes will be available at the arena. Full tournament pass is $20 for Adult and $10 for Senior/Student.  Day passes are also available for Adult $10 and Student/Senior $5.  Children under 6 are admitted free.
