Passing of the Late Devon Osmond
It is with great sadness that Hockey NL announces the passing of the late Devon Osmond. Devon passed away on Nov. 5, 2015 at 19 years of age at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre in Botwood surrounded by his family and close friends. Devon was a graduate player of the Botwood Area Minor Hockey Association and had been an official in the Hockey Canada Officiating Program for approximately 5 years.
He had officiated with pride and dedication at many levels of hockey since joining the program: minor, high school, junior, AAA bantam and adult recreation (CHL). Last year prior to his diagnosis of cancer, Devon was officiating at all levels of hockey, attending post-secondary education – Industrial Electrical Program at Dietrac College in Lewisporte and holding down a part-time job at the local grocery store in Botwood. He was truly an inspiration to his peers, family and friends. He was also highly respected by his mentor, teachers, coaches and other adults who have provided him with guidance and direction over the years Devon touched the lives of many people in his short but productive life. He will be missed but not forgotten!
Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m. from the Jubilee Pentecostal Temple, Botwood.
