Become Coach 1 Trained – 2025/26
If you’re looking to become Coach 1 Trained within Hockey NL for the 2025/26 season, please follow the steps below to complete all necessary requirements.
✅ Steps to Become Coach 1 Trained:
- Members must have a current Criminal Record Check (CRC), Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) & Hockey NL Screening Application (declaration) on file with Hockey NL
- Complete the Hockey Canada Coach 1 Online Course
- Complete one or more of the Hockey Canada coach pathway’s following your completion of the Hockey Canada Coach 1 Online Course. Applicable pathways are listed below:

Attend a 3-Hour In-Class Coach 1 Session

Participate in a Mandatory 1-Hour On-Ice Coach 1 Session
⚠️ Important:
You cannot register with a team unless your Criminal Record Check (CRC), Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) & Hockey NL Screeneing Application (declaration) have been completed and approved. Please ensure these are submitted as early as possible to avoid delays.
Please note: Only those who are Coach 1 Trained are permitted on the ice with U7 and/or U9 players — no other certification is accepted as a substitute.
