BELL ALIANT CUP BEING PLAYED FOR IN GOOSE BAY THIS WEEKEND
Grand Falls-Windsor, NL – Beginning Friday, February 15th, Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador in partnership with Bell Aliant will be presenting the 2013 Bell Aliant Pee Wee AAA provincial play downs in Goose Bay, NL. The event features the best 11 and 12 year old players in the province and is hosted by the Lake Melville Minor Hockey Association.
Six teams (Tri Pen, Western Wolves, Central Icepak, Tri Com Bulldogs, St. John’s Rona Rockets and the Host-Northern Huskies) will compete in a single round robin tournament with the top two teams meeting in a championship game on Sunday at the EJ Broomfield Memorial Arena. The Central Ice Pak team is the two-time defending champs. The winner of the championships will represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2013 Bell Aliant Cup Atlantic Championships being held this year in Corner Brook, NL from March 21-24, 2013.
The Pee Wee AAA program is the first step in the AAA program in the province with players developing and potentially graduating to Bantam AAA, Major Midget and Major Junior in years to come.
