Cataracts Win 12th Herder Memorial Championship
The Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts edged the Clarenville Caribous 3-2 in overtime Saturday night to win the best of seven of the 2014 Herder Memorial Championships brought to you by The Telegram 4 games to 2 played at the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium.
Regular season MVP and Top Scorer, Rob Hennigar scored the winning goal early in the first overtime period on the power play to send the home town fans in a frenzy, Brandon Street and Cam Fergus also scored for the Herder Champs. Mitch Oake scored both goals for the Caribous.
Cataracts netminder A.J. Whiffin was award the Cliff Gorman Memorial Award as the series Most Valuable Player.
