Hockey NL is the governing body for amateur hockey within NL. Working with its member associations, clubs and leagues, Hockey NL oversees the administration and delivery of hockey programming from the entry level to national competition. Position: Coordinator, Women and Girls Development

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, Development and High Performance the Coordinator, Women and Girls Development will:

  • In consultation with the Female Council, develop and support the Women and Girls Hockey Annual Plan, with a focus on driving key objectives as identified in long-term strategy.
  • Work collaboratively to advance working relationships with Female Hockey Leagues.
  • Establish and foster relationships with key female hockey stakeholders developing effective two-way communication that promotes and encourages continuous dialogue.
  • Lead Hockey Canada and IIHF programs such as IIHF World Girls Hockey Weekend, IIHF Global Girls Game, Esso Fun Days and NHL / NHLPA First Shift.
  • Support the Manager, Development and High Performance to execute on Women and Girls coach development strategies and initiatives.
  • Support the national We are Coaches Program to Women and lead Women Coach Mentorship.
  • Support staff and volunteers with other Women and Girls hockey initiatives as needed (officiating, goaltending).
  • Support the Manager, Development and High Performance with the operational aspects of the Female High Performance Program including, but not limited to, coach and player selection, camp implementation, program budgets and action plans.
  • Produce content for website and social media that represents the long-term strategy for Women and Girls hockey in NL.
  • Organize and Deliver Hockey NL Under 7 and Under 9 Annual Female Jamboree Camps.
  • Support the Event Manager for Women and Girls regional championships.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate shall possess the following:

  • Strong knowledge of Hockey NL, its development programs and delivery structure will be considered an asset.
  • Possess exceptional computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Office or recognized alternative.
  • Strong project coordination and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to monitor and follow-up on correspondence as well as time sensitive projects requiring response or future actions.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with volunteers.
  • Willingness to travel and commit to working evenings and weekends.
  • NCCP, HSP and other Branch development program training and qualifications an asset.
  • Experience as a player, coach, official or volunteer is an asset.

This is a part time and support position; approximately 500 hours per annum.
