RE: COVID-19 UPDATE
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Department of Public Health announced yesterday that effective, Monday, February 7, 2022, they will move to a modified Alert Level 3. They have advised that our teams can now practice and train within the team, without the requirement of physical distance at all times. This means we can lift the previous restriction of only low intensity drills and the maximum number of 25 participants per session. Please work with your facility manager in respect to capacity on the ice and in the facility during practice sessions.
Competition between different teams is not permitted at this time and tournaments are prohibited. This modified Alert Level 3 will remain in effect until February 21, 2022, when Public Health will reassess the sport guidance. It is our hope that we can transition to some form of competition over the next two weeks. Sport NL is working with Public Health on next steps. Public Health will continue to evaluate the situation and will provide any updates.
Additionally, capacity is now set at 50% of sport and recreation facilities.

The overall Sport and Recreation Guidance has not been updated as of yet, but it can be found here:

Anyone that is a close contact of a case and has symptoms of COVID-19, and anyone testing positive on a rapid test, should consider themselves a positive case and follow public health direction found here. They do not need any PCR testing to confirm. Employers are asked not to require a PCR test for this category of individuals.
PCR tests are still recommended for non-household close contacts who are fully vaccinated and do not have symptoms, and anyone that has symptoms but has not been identified as a close contact of someone that tested positive for COVID-19. Our Self-Isolation Assessment Tool can help you determine if you need to self-isolate or get tested.

Sincerely,
Hockey NL Board of Directors
