It is with great sadness that Hockey NL announces the passing of the late Clyde “Stump” Williams.  Clyde passed away surrounded by his family at home on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the age of 63 years.  Clyde was a former Hockey NL Board Member, Senior Council.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Jean (nee Barnes); children: Chuck (Jennifer), Luke (Susie) and Beth; grandchildren: Nicholas, Cameron and Nate; parents Howard and Jean Williams; sisters and brothers: Sandra (Elmo) Bingle, Kevin (Karen) Williams, Brian Williams, Carol Ann (Ted) Mugford, Steve Williams (Dale) and Jason (Pauline) Williams; mother-in-law Gertrude Barnes; sister-in-law Sheila (Cordell) Freake; brothers-in-law: Junior Barnes, Jeff Barnes and Sheldon Barnes (Lorina); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his sister Marjorie Blanchard and father-in-law Hubert Barnes. Stump will be missed by his card friends, hockey pool friends and morning coffee buddies. He spent a lot of his time giving back to the community of Deer Lake spending many hours fundraising for various organizations in the community. Stump was an avid hockey fan and a huge supporter of the Deer Lake Red Wings. A special thank you to community health nurses Collen Park and Joanne Randell.

Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m. from Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Bennett Avenue with Rev. Canon Paulette Bugden and Pastor Jeffrey White officiating.

As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
