The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation advised Hockey NL today on the final figures of the inaugural “Pink in the Rink” fundraiser that took place during the 2015 Female Provincial Championships last March .  Paula Tessier, representing the foundation, reported that a total of $11,422.75 was raised for the worthwhile cause.  The money raised stays within the province to be used in research and community health.

Hockey NL partnered with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation last year to raise awareness and funds. Young female hockey players from across the province organized a range of fundraising events in a number of locations throughout the championship weekends.

The Female Chair for Hockey NL, Carolyn Yates, was impressed  with the report. “We are quite pleased with the efforts of all our players in supporting this female initiative; and we look forward to our players supporting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation again during the provincial tournaments in 2016.  We thank everyone who supported this program,” said Yates.

The breakdown raised per division is:  Under 12 division – $3,784.25, Under 15 division – $4,137.50 and Under 20 division – $3,501.00.
