Overview of Pre Canada-Winter Games – Skills Development Camp
The goal of the camp is to give the players eligible for the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island a chance to play and learn with those of their age group in preparation for the future High Performance Program. Players will learn of the expectations of the Hockey NL High Performance Program and the process of Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence. An on-ice emphasis will be put on ‘skill development’ to the specific player position. There will be no evaluations at this camp. This camp will not effect any selections to future High Performance Program teams nor the 2023 Canada Winter Games Selections.
The camp is open to Female players born in 2005 & 2006 and Male players born in 2007.

The camp will consist of 3 Male groups of 24 skaters and 3 goalies and 2 Female groups of 22 skaters and 3 goalies. The camp will again consist of on-ice skills sessions for players and goaltenders. In addition to the on-ice sessions, players will also be exposed to off-ice video sessions with coaches, past players and other guest speakers.
Please note this event is non-body checking.
Purpose of camp:
To expose Male and Female Canada Winter Games Athletes to the High Performance Program both on and off the ice.
- Groups will be put together, consisting of 24 skaters – 3 Goalies *
- Each group will receive 2 hours per day on ice
- Players will also have off-ice video sessions

This camp will follow all rules and regulations set forward by the Provincial Government, Chief Medical Officer and the Return to Hockey guidelines set forward by Hockey NL and Hockey Canada.
