Minor hockey provides young athletes with the opportunity to develop fundamental skills, build confidence, and experience the excitement of being part of a team. Through age-appropriate programming, player development initiatives, and structured competition, Hockey NL is committed to creating a positive environment where players can learn, grow, and enjoy the game.

From a player’s first time stepping onto the ice to competing at higher levels, minor hockey emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect. Our goal is to provide every participant with a safe, inclusive, and rewarding hockey experience that fosters both personal growth and a lifelong passion for the sport.

Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and competitive environment for all participants. Players, coaches, team officials, parents, and spectators are expected to uphold the standards of fair play, sportsmanship, and respect both on and off the ice. The Rules & Guidelines outlined below help ensure consistency across the province while promoting a positive hockey experience for everyone involved.

Disciplinary actions, suspensions, and conduct expectations are administered in accordance with Hockey NL policies and Hockey Canada regulations. Participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these guidelines to better understand their responsibilities and help maintain the integrity of the game.
