Atlantic Challenge Cup Cancelled
Due to the ongoing pandemic and new COVID-19 restrictions in the Maritimes, Hockey New Brunswick, Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador, Hockey Nova Scotia, and Hockey Prince Edward Island have made the difficult decision to cancel the Atlantic Challenge Cup.
The tournament, which features hundreds of the top male and female hockey players from across Atlantic Canada, was scheduled to be played from Jan. 2-5, 2022 at the Superior Propane Centre in Moncton, NB. However, on Monday, the province of New Brunswick announced new restrictions to organized sport prohibiting games and tournaments for all participants 12 and over, forcing the Atlantic branches to cancel the event.
The province of Nova Scotia also announced yesterday that effective on Friday, Dec. 17, tournaments will not be permitted in the province.
While the Atlantic Challenge Cup organizing committee is disappointed that players in our region will not be able to face off at this best-on-best tournament next month, we are grateful for the continued support of the participants, coaches, officials, and our local partners in the Moncton area.
We look forward to working together to plan for a safe and exciting Atlantic Challenge Cup in October 2022.
