BREAKERS EDGE CARIBOUS IN GAME ONE OF THE HERDER

Grand Falls-Windsor, NL – The Sothern Shore Breakers defeated the Clarenville Caribous 4-3 in game one of the 2022 Herder Memorial Championship on Saturday night at the Ken Williams Southern Shore Arena. The Breakers jumped out to an early two goal lead in the first period, with tallies from Brandon Pye and Daniel Cadigan within two minutes of each other. Nick Abbott answered back for the Caribous cutting the lead to 2-1 entering the second period. The Brekaers would go on to score two more goals, one in the second and third, and hold off the Caribous late in the third to secure the victory.
Mark Yetman earned the win in goal for the Breakers stopping 25 of 28 shots while A.J. Whiffen suffered the loss for the Caribous.
The best of seven series resumes today with game 2 starting at 7:30 pm at the Eastlink Event Centre.
