Any coach wishing to apply for an exemption is asked to submit a short essay (500 words) rationalizing why they should be granted an exemption to complete the D1 course. The essay must include a hockey resume with past playing and coaching experience, proof of registration within Hockey NL, and any other related coaching experience. Exemption request essays must be submitted to the NCCP Coordinator and Manager, Development and High Performance for approval. Each request will be evaluated based on individual merits by the NCCP Coordinator, Manager, Development and High Performance and Hockey Development Chair.

* This Development 1 exemption request does not permit coaches to get exempt from doing their Development 1 but allows them to jump into a Development 1 course without competing the pre requisite when aiming to coaching a level that it is required.
