HOCKEY NL ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – CONCLUDED TODAY

Grand Falls-Windsor, NL- Hockey concluded their Annual General Meeting this weekend in Gander.
A summary of some of the items reported during this year’s AGM include:
The Board of Directors carried a motion that now provides the Female division with Council Status which will allow the division the same governing authority as Junior, Minor and Senior. This change will also add five additional representatives to the provincial Board of Directors.
The Clarenville and Area Minor Hockey Association will host the 2019 Bantam Female AAA Atlantic Championship being held from April 4-7, 2019.
The Minor Hockey delegates made changes to the ice time allocation for goaltenders and AAA Pee Wee program to enhance the fair play.
Junior Hockey continued to look at ways to provide a competitive and safe game for their age group.
Senior Hockey teams and leagues were presented a proposal on a new concept for competition and sponsorship that will be reviewed by the representatives in the coming weeks for a decision.
The Survey results on the Novice Hockey Program was presented to the delegates for feedback and suggestions for next year including a communication plan for parents in September supporting the grassroots initiatives of Hockey Canada.
Officials reported a registration increase to 836 referees and linesmen this past season.
The Executive Committee for 2018-2019 who will be finishing their second year of a two-year term.
