Hockey NL held its Annual Meeting of the Members on Saturday

Grand Falls-Windsor, NL – This past weekend, Hockey NL completed their Annual Meeting in Gander, NL. The meetings were highly successful and, hopefully, informative for all our membership.  While we are excited and optimistic for the 2022-2023 hockey season as we move on from the challenges all our families endured during the Covid pandemic, it is not without a note of sadness. It is with deep regret that Hockey NL announces having received the resignation of our President, Arnold Kelly, due to personal reasons. This resignation takes effect immediately. As a result, Hockey NL Vice President, Dr. Jared Butler has been appointed by the Board to serve as the President until the next Annual Meeting which time a President shall be elected by the membership.

Arnold has served Hockey for many years at the local and provincial level, having previously served as the President, Lake Melville Minor Hockey Association, Northern Director for Minor Hockey, the Chair of Minor Hockey, and the President of Hockey NL.  In the footsteps of his late father, Hockey NL Life Member Gerry Kelly, Arnold has served the membership of Hockey NL with integrity, dedication, and great honour. He has left an indelible impression upon our organization, having set a course for our game and those who participate in it across the island and into Labrador. Hockey NL is grateful for his time as a volunteer, the work he has contributed, and most importantly, the sincerity with which he undertook his duties.

Interim President, Butler, expressed appreciation, “To Arnold – thank you for all that you, Liz, and your family, have contributed and sacrificed to make our game and Hockey NL a space for safe, fun, and inclusive hockey experiences.”
