RE: HOCKEY NL RETURN TO HOCKEY PROTOCOLS 2021-2022
The Hockey NL Board has worked in conjunction with Hockey Canada and the Government of NL to ensure that we are able to have a safe return to hockey this coming season. Our aim is to enhance the experience while recognizing the ongoing and evolving global pandemic necessitating our programming remaining fluid.
Hockey NL Board has established the following policy and messaging for the start of our hockey season.
- Association, Teams and Leagues should continue to complete a Return to Hockey Plan document and keep this on file within their organization. These RTH documents are NOT required to be submitted to Public Health or Hockey NL but should be kept on file in the event there are concerns or a change in Public Health needs;
- The use of masks is required when involved in Hockey NL activities. This includes in facilities, on benches, in dressing rooms, and spaces that do not permit social distancing. Players are required to wear ‘buffs’ when social distancing is not possible on the bench due to the number of players in uniform;
- Double Vaccination is encouraged for all eligible members of Hockey NL;
- Associations, Teams, and Leagues should partner with their local facility to ensure that the appropriate social distancing and safety measures are followed, for both on and off ice events, as per the arena’s protocols and Public Health guidelines;
Hockey NL will continue to monitor Public Health Guidelines and may adjust this policy to comply with their directives.
Preventative Safety Measures will continue to be expected this hockey season and will be included in our Covid 19 resource page. https://hockeynl.ca/covid-19/
