On behalf of Hockey NL Referee In Chief Ed Flood, I am pleased to announce that Abby Bessey has been selected as one of our Recipients for the Hockey NL Official of the Month Program for February.  She was nominated by her Referee in Chief, Joe Lane, who had great things to say about the work that she is are doing with the Hockey Canada/Hockey NL Officiating Programs.
Below is a sample of the comments that were made as a part of her nomination:
”   This is Abby’s first year officiating. She did remarkably well on her first written exam and shows a keen interest in officiating. Presently, Abby accepts all assignments for every division of minor hockey and is one of our most dependable young officials. From my supervisions, I see a great improvement in her procedures on a weekly basis. She shows a great interest in improving and she studies the Hockey Canada procedures and rules. It is not uncommon for her to send me questions on various situations in the HC procedures and rules book. With her hard work, great attitude, and willingness to improve, I am sure Abby will be an excellent official in the near future. ” Joe Lane, Channel Port Aux Basques Minor Hockey Association, Referee In Chief
