Hockey NL Would Like to Congratulate & Recognize, Matthew Fitzgerald – Official of the Month, November 2020
On behalf of Hockey NL Referee-In-Chief, Ed Flood I am pleased to announce that Matthew Fitzgerald is selected as one of our Recipients for the Hockey NL Official of the Month Program. Matthew was nominated by his RIC Bob Wight who had great things to say about the work that Matthew is doing with the Hockey Canada Officiating Program.
Below is a copy of nomination comments that were submitted on his behalf.
“Matthew has started to officiate in Metro this year and has been very successful. He still finds time to do games for SJMHA no matter what the level or what time. He has mentored Novice hockey early in the morning and helped new officials get a feel to starting as a on ice official. He comes from a family of hockey referees where his brother (Tyler) who is a metro official and Father (Kevin) who officiated for many years here in St John’s . I feel very lucky to have him as member of our association and the effort he puts in his own game but also the contribution he makes to our newer officials. Great person on and off the ice.” Bob Wight, St. John’s Minor Referee In Chief.
