Ivan Hapgood has taken on roles as a player and an administrator for more than half a century.

the love of hockey came from playing as a child. Another goaltender, Ivan helped his team win numerous intermediate championships and two MVP awards for is play.

Stepping off the ice didn’t mean he was finished with the game. He served on the intermediate hockey league executive for 15 years in numerous committees in various executive positions including president. For the last 12 years he has served as coach and/or GM with the Clarenville Senior Caribous and is currently the GM of the Clarenville Ford Caribous as well as Vice President of the Avalon East Senior Hockey League.

Working with Clarenville in senior hockey, Ivan was part of four Herder Trophies and 4 other runner-up finishes. He also led the Clarenville Caribous to the 2011 Allan Cup National Championship, the second in NL history.

He has been the Provincial Senior Coach of the Year and received the Charlie McCarthy Memorial Award for his managerial contributions.
