CALGARY, Alta. – Kraft and Hockey Canada have launched Celebrating Canada’s Best, a coast-to-coast-to-coast search for those who go above and beyond to help make hockey happen in their communities.

Canadians are invited to visit www.krafttop100.ca to nominate their unsung hockey hero in 2,000 words or less, explaining how their passion for the game helps make a difference, whether they’re a concession worker, skate sharpener or the ultimate volunteer. The contest is now open, and runs through Nov. 16, 2014.

One hundred winners will be chosen, including five lucky individuals who will receive the grand prize, a VIP package for two to the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, including travel, accommodation and two tickets to the gold medal game to be played Jan. 5, 2015 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ont.

Those five winners will also have a $5,000 donation made in their name to the minor hockey association of their choosing, while the other 95 honourees will have $2,000 donated in their name to the Hockey Canada program of their choosing, as well as a Kraft Top 100 engraved plaque to recognize their contributions to minor hockey in communities across Canada.

“It is truly amazing to see just how many Canadians play a role in the success of minor hockey in every corner of the country,” said Tom Renney, Hockey Canada president and CEO. “We are thrilled to be partnering with Kraft to find and recognize Canadians who represent everything that is great about our game.”
