Major Midget Showcase in Mount Pearl
The Glacier and the Mount Pearl Minor Hockey Association are proud to host the Newfoundland & Labrador Major Midget League’s Annual Year End Showcase and Banquet this weekend from Feb. 1-3.
Major Midget is the top level of minor hockey available in the province and is the last local step to players before they are eligible for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, NCAA, or Junior ‘A’ leagues across Canada and the United States. This year in the QMJHL, there are five players who played in the Newfoundland & Labrador Major Midget Hockey League last season. Marcus Cuomo (Saint John Sea Dogs) and Clark Bishop (Cape Breton Screaming Eagles) of the St. John’s Privateers along with Connor Donaghey (Saint John Sea Dogs), Cody Donaghey (Rouyn-Noranda Huskies) and Mount Pearl’s Nathan Yetman (PEI Rocket) played for the St. John’s Maple Leafs in 2011-2012.
The NLMMHL is proud of these and all other graduates who move on to play at the next level of hockey and are proud to showcase this year’s crop of talent right here in Mount Pearl. Graduates and members of the MPMHA who are playing this weekend include: Brad Mitchelmore, Liam Careen, Director of Operations Dave Burry, and Assistant Coach Kris Abbott of the Privateers and Dylan Burry, Bobby Upshall, and Liam Kennedy of the St. John’s Maple Leafs
Tournament passes are available at the door for $20, while single day passes are $10 and a single game ticket is $5. Minor Hockey players wearing their team jersey and children under 12 will be admitted for free.
