Grand Falls-Windsor, NL- The 2018 Midget AAA Female Provincials are being held this weekend at the Glovertown Gardens and Gander Community Centre. The championship features the top 15, 16 and 17 year old female players in the province representing four regional teams.

The four teams- Eastern Ice Breakers, Western Warriors, Tri Pen Ice and the Central Ice Pak, have participated in a provincial league all season, with this weekend coming down to a semi- final series and medal rounds to determine the provincial champion for 2018.

The winner of the tournament will earn the right to represent the province and attend the Atlantic Regional Championship being held in Mount Pearl, NL from March 29-April 1, 2018. The Ice Breakers are host team for the regional championship, therefore, NL will have two teams participating in the event.  The Atlantic Regional Championship is the final event to determine who will represent Atlantic Canada at the 2018 Esso Cup Female Midget National Championship taking place this year in Halifax, NS from April 22-28, 2018.

The teams will compete in a two game total goal semi-final on day one based on the regular season standing, followed by a best of three medal round on day two and three. The Warriors finished first place in the regular season and are the three -time defending champions.
