It is with great sadness that Hockey NL announces the passing of the late Bill Strickland on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Agnes Pratt Home.  Bill was a former Hockey NL Chair, Junior Council.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and faithful friend, at the age of 74 years.  Predeceased by his parents Abram and Margaret and his first wife and mother of his children Patricia (Sheppard) Strickland.

Leaving to mourn and respectfully honouring his life, with kindness and loving memories his children: Rhonda (Franz) and Todd (Tammy); grandchildren: Ashley, Kassie, Tyler, Colby, Kenzie, Layton and Arionna, his wife Rev’d Emeline Coffin-Strickland and her children: Garry and Darlene, Roger and granddaughter Samantha, who loved him dearly; his siblings: David (Gabrielle), Edward (Bonnie), Geoffrey (Mercedes), Norma (Jim Edgecombe), Frank (Carol) as well as extended members of the Strickland family. Also left to mourn Scott, Rachel and Victoria Churchill, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Members of the Fowlow and Sheppard families, and the Morgan and Coffin families.

Bill was a prominent businessman and owner of Bill’s Cycle & Sports. Bill was well known for his dedication and participation in the Newfoundland and Labrador Hockey Association including the Minor, Junior, Senior and Female Hockey Associations. A generous giver of his time, energy and expertise as well as goodwill. A lover of animals, especially his dogs Jessie, Kelsie and very generous to the less fortunate.

In his memory, donations can be made to St. Michael and All Angels Church or the SPCA.

Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Wednesday, October 14th from 12noon – 8pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15th at 12:30pm, with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
