Passing of the Late Ernie Hynes

 

It is with great sadness that Hockey NL announces the passing of Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee Ernie Hynes on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit in his 75th year.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving daughter Connie and husband Jim Keough, Massey Drive; sisters: Stella Park (Max – Deceased), Corner Brook and Beverley Smith (Jerry), Corner Brook; brother Hector Hynes Jr., Corner Brook; sisters-in-law: Maureen Davis, Corner Brook, Joan Whelan (Gerry), St. John’s and Cathy Herbert (Peter), Alberta; brother-in-law Jerome Davis (Charmayne), Corner Brook; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Predeceased by his wife of 48 years Shirley Hynes, 2014, parents Hector and Ethel Hynes, sister Jean (Ken) Whitten, brother Carl Hynes, parents-in-law Charles and Charlotte Davis.

A very special thank you to the ICU and Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook and the CCU, Health Science Centre for your exceptional care and compassion shown to my dad. Cremation has taken place.

Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home Wednesday 3-5 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. to a maximum of 20 people in the building at one time in compliance with Covid-19 Government regulations, face masks and physical distancing required.   The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m.from All Saints Anglican Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Tanya White officiating to a maximum of 100 people, face masks and physical distancing required.

Anyone wishing to attend the funeral service please contact daughter Connie 660-4395. Interment to follow at Townsite Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations maybe made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
