It is with great sadness that Hockey NL announces the passing of the late George Fardy. George passed away Saturday June 20, 2015 in the presence of his family. George served as President of Hockey NL from 1986 to 2000. In addition to President he was Chair of Minor Hockey for 5 years and was a long time volunteer of St. John’s Minor Hockey Association. George has received many recognitions for his over 50 years of volunteering in hockey such as Life Member of Hockey NL, Member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Hockey Hall of Fame, Gold Stick Recipient, Hockey Canada Order of Merit and Outstanding Service to Minor Hockey. George will be remembered as one of the finest and truest gentleman to serve Hockey in the province and in Canada.

He is resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, June 22, from 2-9 p.m. and Tuesday June 23, from 2-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Mary Queen of Peace Church on Wednesday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation may be made in his memory to the Charity of one’s choice.
