It is with great sadness that Hockey NL announces the passing of the late Leo Albert Kane at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander on Sunday January 9, 2022.  Leo is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

He was predeceased by his parents Albert & Theresa Kane and sisters: Kathleen Carnish & Pauline Kane.

Leaving to mourn his son Chris (Erika) of Gander; daughter Dawn (Adrian Hearn) of Truro, N.S; grandchildren: Charlotte & Camryn Kane, Ben & Mackenzie Hearn; brothers: Pat (Donna), Brian, Jimmy, Matt and Danny and he also leaves behind a large circle of family and friend who will miss him.

The family would also like to thank the ICU staff at the James Paton for taking such wonderful care of him during his final days.

He will be no doubt be remembered for being a speedy right winger who helped the Flyers win the herder in 1969 and being inducted into the NL hockey Hall of Fame in 2007 (https://hockeynl.ca/leo-kane-2/).

In keeping with Leo’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services at this time.
