ROBERT GEORGE BADCOCK

Robert Badcock enjoyed impressive success in three hockey categories. He was an extremely effective and award-winning player, a title-winning coach, and a respected and informative sports reporter and editor.
As a player for 16 years, he was a member of one St. John’s junior championship team and four senior Boyle Trophy champions. At the provincial level, he was a member of one provincial junior championship club and one provincial senior championship team, and was a member of the St. John’s squad that played the touring Russian Selects.
As a coach, during a nine-year career, he had one provincial minor title and six provincial senior Herder Trophy championships. He won two Atlantic hockey championships and earned a great reputation for the manner in which he coached the St. John’s team.
For 21 years, Robert Badcock was a sports reporter and editor at the St. John’s Evening Telegram where he was universally respected for his ability as a writer and his integrity for reporting the facts.
In addition to hockey, Robert Badcock also enjoyed great soccer, basketball and softball careers.
