Voluntary On Line Survey – Concussions
Concussions remain prevalent in Hockey and an area that Hockey NL has prioritized as an issue that we need to continue to bring awareness to. We have distributed concussion cards to associations, we have a safe return to play policy and we encourage all participants to download the Concussion Awareness apps on their smartphones developed by Hockey Canada. All of these initiatives are steps to make the game safe for our players.
Hockey NL partnered with Hockey Canada and True Sport last season and conducted some research with our players, and to follow up on that study, we have now partnered with Memorial University of Newfoundland. MUN is conducting a voluntary on-line survey for our Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget aged players both male and female.
The survey does not take long, and is a snap shot of our players input on concussions. It has been approved by the Canadian Ethics Association and it is secure and private, as we respect the confidentially of our membership. The survey is live and there are two weeks left for members to go on line and complete the survey.
We believe this project will provide very important and relevant information to the research department of MUN and we look forward to an active participation from our membership and to the findings of such a study.
