Jim Penney demonstrated exceptional leadership with the CeeBee’s and the Capitals, both on and off the ice. His leadership was very evident during games when he led by example and came to the forefront in the dressing room and during practices in a manner that encouraged and instilled plenty of pride in his teammates, especially his younger teammates. He was a very valuable asset to every team with which he played.

Following his retirement from senior play, he captained old-timer CeeBee teams to championships in Florida and Finland. He is a past president of Conception Bay North Minor Hockey and coached many minor teams with that organization.
